TMJ

TMJ is the abbreviation for the sliding hinge that is the temporomandibular joint but is also commonly used when referring to problems with that joint.  The more proper designation would be TMD for temporomandibular disorder and refers to problems with the jaw and muscles of the face.

If you have had problems with this joint in the past, you are aware of how important this joint is for talking and chewing.

Symptoms of TMD include headaches, earaches, pressure behind the eyes, pain in the face, jaw, or ear area, clicking and popping when opening or closing the mouth, tenderness of the muscles in the jaw, swelling of the face, or the jaw getting stuck in an open or closed position.

By determining the cause of the symptoms of TMJ or TMD, Dr. King may be able provide substantial or total relief from your pain.

The cause of the pain may be due to a dysfunction in the spine, and chiropractic manipulation can relieve the tension by correcting that dysfunction.

One treatment may relieve an acute symptom, but if chronic problems are present, treatment may require continual care to keep the pain under control.

Call King Chiropractic at 813-555-0000 today and make an appointment to evaluate your TMJ problems.
